More About Me

As a marketing professional, my career path has been somewhat unconventional. Throughout college, I worked as a supervisor and bartender, and after graduation, started in sales and recruiting. Within a couple years, I realized sales (and endless cold calls) was definitely not for me, so I switched back to the restaurant industry which allowed me to have a flexible schedule to pursue marketing internships.

I worked my way from the ground up with internships at Blandford Nature Center, Grand Rapids Sport and Social Club (now JAM Sports), and Soccer Buddies to shape my skill set. My Soccer Buddies role eventually led to a part-time Marketing Director position with Social Cookie Media Marketing (Soccer Buddies' sister company).

This experience then allowed me to pursue a full-time agency role with Leverage Marketing, where I now serve on their Leadership team and manage their Digital Marketing department.

Giving back to the community is also important to me which is why for the past three years, I have donated free marketing services to READ Ottawa, a local nonprofit that provides free and accessible tutoring services to adults throughout Ottawa County. Annnd just in case my schedule wasn't already busy enough, I also work as a freelance marketer for The Sharp End Podcast.

I love taking on new challenges and opportunities and am excited to learn more about how I might be of service to your organization. If you’d like to learn more about my work, interests, or past projects, get in touch today!

Kate Fun Facts

  • My first rescue was a medical case/senior Yorkie named Genevieve, my second a senior Mini Poodle named Ted, and now I have an adult Shih-Tzu/Yorkie mix named Emmett. Bonus fun fact, all my dogs had missing teeth so their tongues stick out.

  • After my first year at Michigan State, I wanted to try out a more hands-on program, so, while finishing my Bachelor’s degree, I also went to culinary school. There, I learned everything from bread making to fine dining desserts and chocolate sculptures. It was an amazing experience, and I still cater events for friends and family.

  • And sometimes, the collecting greatly outpaces reading haha! I currently have an entire shelf of “to-be-read” books and recently finished Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry.

  • It doesn’t matter if it is a jigsaw puzzle or a NYT crossword, once I start, I can’t stop until it is finished.

  • No, seriously. You can definitely tell if I haven’t taken my daily walks and gotten a little fresh air. I love visiting Lake Michigan any time of the year or exploring new parks with Emmett!
